Abstract
The present study examines and analyzes the urban livability of District Two of Qom, which is considered one of the most populous and challenging districts of this metropolis. Focusing on three main indicators—environmental, visual, and physical—this research comprehensively analyzes the current condition of the district in terms of urban space quality, environmental safety, per capita green space, urban aesthetics, and physical infrastructure. The research method is mixed and survey‑based. Data were collected through a 32‑item questionnaire from a statistical population of 54,016 households, with a sample size of 114 households selected through simple random sampling. In addition to quantitative data, field observations, photography, and semi‑structured interviews were employed to collect reliable and rich qualitative data. The findings clearly indicate unfavorable livability conditions in this district. In particular, there is a severe shortage of green space—less than one‑third of the national standard—along with high levels of environmental and noise pollution, poor housing conditions and deteriorated urban areas, a disordered urban landscape, and clear inconsistency in building façades. Physical indicators also face numerous challenges, including the lack of pedestrian pathways, safe cycling routes, and standard sports facilities, which have significantly and negatively affected the physical and mental health of residents. Furthermore, there is noticeable and widespread dissatisfaction among citizens with urban management and planning. This research clearly highlights the necessity of adopting comprehensive, participatory, and equity‑oriented approaches in urban management in order to enhance livability and improve the quality of life of residents in District Two of Qom
