Assessment of citizens' satisfaction from sustainability measures (case study: Kerman City)

Abstract

To achieve‌ sustainable urban development, studying citizens' satisfaction of sustainability parameters can be used to analyze the current situation and future decisions in order to improve the quality of residential areas and thus to achieve effective sustainability. The purpose of this study is to evaluate urban sustainability parameters and assess the citizens' satisfaction of sustainability measures in Kerman city. The descriptive-analytical approach is used in this survey, so library studies and preliminary visit, and also field studies and questionnaires were used to collect data. Statistical tests such as Pearson, Correlation, Regression analysis model and single-sample T-test have analyzed data from questionnaires that measure seven aspects of sustainability in the form of 30 parameters. Tests confirm sustainability dissatisfaction, in a way that the average value of 2.65, out of a total sustainability satisfaction, is achieved in Kerman city. The environmental dimension has the greatest, and the management-rule one has the lowest satisfaction in seven dimensions of sustainability. Accordingly, it can be concluded that physical-spatial development and interactions between people and officials would not fit urban sustainability in Kerman city. Thus, regarding the sustainability measures can help enhance the quality of life and urban development sustainability.
