Green roofs, as a pivotal strategy in sustainable urban development, play a crucial role in managing environmental crises and enhancing ecological resilience . In the face of escalating environmental crises and the shortage of urban green spaces, green roofs are considered an effective strategy for reducing vulnerability and enhancing urban livability . This research aims to provide an indigenous model for green roof development to achieve an ecological city in Najafabad . . The study employs a descriptive . - analytical approach within a developmental - applied framework, utilizing both library research and field surveys . Accordingly, 96 items were identified across six indices for green roofs and five indices for the ecological city . The statistical population consisted of urban planning and architecture experts, of whom 30 were selected through purposive sampling . Data were analyzed using SPSS through exploratory factor analysis and ANOVA . Furthermore, spatial analysis of the indicators across the five districts of Najafabad was conducted using network analysis tools in ArcGIS environment . The results indicate that the ‘environmental’ dimension (path coefficient = 0.980 ) and the ‘social’ dimension ( path coefficient = 0.716 ) have the most significant impact on green roof development . Districts 3 and 2 exhibit the highest potential for such development, with means of 3.54 and 3.52 , respectively . Moreover, findings from the spatial analysis demonstrate that the structured network of green roof development illustrates high consistency and alignment with scenarios for accomplishing an ecological city . . .
